Country Onion Soup
Country Onion Soup
Serves 6-8
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
3/4 pounds yellow onions, thinly sliced (12 ounces)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup tomato puree (4 fluid ounces)
6 cups vegetable or beef broth
3 ounces spaghettini or vermicelli
1/4 cup grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
salt, Cayenne pepper, and freshly ground black pepper
In a large soup pot, saute onions in olive oil until they start to caramelize, about 8 to 10 minutes. Season with 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute. Add tomato puree and cook 2 more minutes. Add broth, stirring to incorporate. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, break pasta into 1 inch pieces. Uncover soup and season to taste with another 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Bring to a boil and add pasta. Cook pasta in the soup until al dente. Add more hot broth or some water, if necessary, to make the dish as soupy as you would like.
Serve in warmed soup bowls. Garnish with grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
stepping up my game with a little two months Kaizo experience.
Not sure if I should have fought Yoshi first. Defiantly easier that Sawrfing castle for some strange reason!
Hoping to have this done and dusted soon #quickieworld
Kaizo newbie (playing for about a month) takes on the level “everything is fine” in Quickieworld 1. Time for Sawrfing castle!
sensitive fern (Onoclea sensibilis)
Onoclea sensibilis, the sensitive fern, also known as the bead fern, is a coarse-textured, medium to large-sized deciduous perennial fern. The name comes from the observation by early American settlers that it was very sensitive to frost, the fronds dying quickly when first touched by it. It is sometimes treated as the only species in Onoclea, but some authors do not consider the genus monotypic.
Neofavolus alveolaris is a species of polypore fungus in the family Polyporaceae. It is widely distributed in the temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere. Its kidney- or fan-shaped fruit bodies measure 1โ8ย cm (0.4โ3.1ย in) in diameter. Initially reddish, they become cream to white when dry. The pores on the cap underside are angular to hexagonal and relatively large (0.5โ3ย mm diameter). The fungus causes a white rot in hardwoods.
